Sleep

I so look forward to the end of my days
When at last I can lay myself to rest.
In darkness troubles are so few
And if allowed peace comes to you.

No conflict for the calmed spirit.
Muscles relaxed without burdens.
Nothing new for the mind.
And plenty, plenty of time.

The Day's journey beats us up.
In the end there is no reward
Aside from the comforting thought
That you burden no one more.
