Close up of Janet's breast covering in Justin's hand. Shows fake red lace and snaps (deception and intention respectively). But then again, who cares!
Forget Reality Television; Forget Ed TV; Forget The Truman Show--try "Reality ME!" The entries below follow me throughout my day. Try on my shoes... This blog will document my success or failure on handling the daily challenges. Originally started as an anonymous pessimistic following of a difficult situation (ergo the poorly named cursed-juggler), this writing has turned into a pleasurable medium to inform friends and family and make new friends.

7 yr old stayed on bus instead of getting off. After recovering him, he and I proceeded to the middle school to pickup the 13 yr old who apparently had a pretty good day and entered one more class. I'm flabbergasted. It sounds like the school is doing what we want them to do!
?? Could someone help me understand this please? Zoo Family Warning: you are going to see fake genitals--uh. sort of. And pay close attention to the little girl's left hand.
...and the crik don't rise
The creek in one spot is nearly over its banks. I've never seen it this high! Note to self: Keep a close eye on the bedroom and garage floors!
Good News/Bad News
Good News: The $40,000 owed on the student loans will not be making a bad mark on the credit report!
Bad News: We are stuck in the delinquent loans program another 12 months.
Good News: We are paying $100 per month instead of $550!
Bad News: It's actually like $47,000 because we don't get to refinance at today's interest rates.
What happened? Our account handler is no longer with the law firm. Apparently, had we done the reconsolidation through WD Ford that he directed us to do we would have had a $47,000 bad debt showing on our credit report (granted, its only for 7 years but that could have impacted getting a new house, van, etc.) Since the December payment of $550 bounced and we didn't get it paid by Jan 15 we didn't qualify for the reconsolidation. The bummer is that the December payment could have been adjusted to $100 and we could have been reconsolidated. Ugh!

Back from the school. What a hoot! The two biggest loud mouths in the class were side by side and no one could hear a word they were saying. The 7 yr old was scared quiet. He did a great job! I'm a proud dad. The whole wax museum is a hit!
13 yr old dropped at school. Now we are off to the elementary school to see the 7 yr old. We have 15 minutes to get the baby dressed, collect the video camera and digital camera and get to his performance at 9:15.
Kidnapper kills
Body of missing girl found We knew this is how it would end. So, how do I protect my own children? Would my 10 year old simply comply to a firm grip and walk away to never be seen alive again? I would hope not! We should not be faced with having to taint the pure minds of children with these kinds of discussions but the only way to prevent these types of crimes is to prepare our children for the possibility.
Perhaps if we put prozac into the water we could save minds and lives like fluoridation saved teeth.

Kids deposited. Time to read the newspaper. Man is it every down pouring outside!
Carpool
Time to take the 7 yr old, his friend and the 10 yr old to school. 7 yr old is feeling puny; I bet he comes home with us after his show today.
Kids up. 7 yr old was snoring hard. Neither seemed to want to get up and were very groggy. Must be the rain. The 20 mth old seemed restless as I went in to get the 10 yr old. Again. The rain. The 13 yr old also seems restless.
How am I feeling? Great! Up until I put this tie on. I think its time to get new shirts. This one seems a little constraining but until I pass out it will do. I should have stretched out this morning. My shoulder in my back feels like it has a knife in it. But I still feel fantastic.

Janet Jackson Stunt May Impact Standards Please people! We have better things to be doing.
"- A banker from Knoxville, Tenn., filed a class action lawsuit against Jackson, dance partner Justin Timberlake, CBS, halftime show producers MTV and the networks' parent company, Viacom. Terri Carlin said the "sexually explicit conduct" by the performers caused millions of people to "suffer outrage, anger, embarrassment and serious injury." "
Outrage -- let's try "hop on the bandwagon" I really doubt this outraged anyone watching the SuperBowl. It wasn't on long enough to outrage anyone. I bet the outraged ones were people that did not watch the Superbowl but followed it in the news. If the news had not made such a big deal out of this, then it would have died. Topics for outrage: stupid laws, our failing education system, increased bankrupcies against a backdrop of misappropriated funds in corp america and the government, people that believe a glimpse of a breast causes 'serious injury' (this banker needs a therapist)
Anger -- anger that it wasn't a longer spot or more revealing
embarrassment -- only that the men stared and got caught by their wives
serious injury -- WHAT?! The only people seriously injured are going to be the people paying the fines and legal fees for frivolous lawsuits like this one (and maybe that one grip that fell off the stage)
The local article as published in the local Knoxville paper "Carlin's lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages worth billions. " Billions? What? Her goals is to put people out of business or drive up the cost of everything we buy?

Best wife--and she's mine! All mine!
I really appreciate my wife. I flossed this morning for the first time in a long time and for the first time in the newly renovated bathroom upstairs. I open the "my" drawer and sure enough there's dental floss. She thinks of everything!
Funny
Most sex is of the recreational variety, which is just as well or there would be even more people on the planet. Few people will admit to a lack of expertise, but as with driving there is always scope to improve on the basic technique. And also as with driving, sex is an activity which brings pleasure when skilfully exercised but can be dangerous if the risks are ignored.
The Haynes Sex Manual contains:
- Step-by-step instructions for safer and more enjoyable sex
- Unique advice on sex in cars, backed up by real-life stories
- Written from hands-on experience by a well-known healthcare professional
- Colour fault finding charts for fast diagnosis of sex-related conditions
As you would expect from Haynes, this manual contains detailed explanations of how the relevant parts work and fit together, what happens if they don't, and what you can do about it.
The manual will enable you to:
- maintain your tackle in optimum condition prevent corrosion of vital parts
- understand your partner's desires
- decide when to call in professional assistance

Let's start the day off with a PayPal donation link:
This Morning
* Woke at 3am. Realized I definitely did not split enough wood to weather us through the day much less the bad weather that we are to face through the weekend. It's going to get really cold so I guess I'm going to be chopping wood in the rain or snow.
* Am wide awake. Now I could go back to sleep although I don't need to but I used to be able to sleep sitting up, maybe standing, and once fell asleep in a tree.
Let's make something of today!

Da Evening
The scout meeting was interesting. I'm bothered because 1) I don't feel I'm working hard enough with my son on his scouting and 2) he's earned a badge and not received it for 3 meetings despite reminders. Sometimes I feel singled out. I had that feeling tonight like I had in my early teens. I had just moved to New Orleans and suddenly I had no history but everyone else had history since they'd known each other for years. I was invited to hang out and play with the other kids but I never really felt a part of the other kids. I always felt like the outsider. Years later I realized I was just being neurotic.
So, am I being neurotic again? Or am I in the wrong tax bracket? Do I not give enough to the community or play the right politics? Or did I really get a hex put on me by some voodoo queen when I was living down in New Orleans and now my family is having to suffer through some twisted ironic luck because it isn't bad luck; it's alway "ironic."
Time for bed.

Preparions for the night
Going to rain hard today. Flood warnings already issued for the morning.
So, I wised up and made kindling. Now going to wash the floors. Then prepare myself for the meeting tonight. I've got about a half hour to pull this off.

Deeps thoughts from a 13 year old
"Dad, you know. It gets muddy when it rains."
"Dad, you know. It gets muddy when it rains."
The ride back from the school was quiet except for the phone call from the teacher saying the 13 yr old left his homework. So we turned around. I made some casual chit chat but for the most part we were each in our own world.
Time to clean the floors.
Time to clean the floors.
Cleaning
Just got done cleaning. Succeeded at getting all upstairs trash out of the house. Changed and fed the baby. Cleaned oven hood, stone top and sides, microwave inside and out, kitchen counter tops, sink, emptied clean dishes and refilled dishwasher. Left to do in kitchen: kitchen table, refrigerator, and floors.
Time to go pickup the 13 yr old.

11-1
Day is slipping by. I've done some programming and watched History Channel while having lunch.
The baby has just woken from her nap and the wife is at the school until 2. The wife will return. And shortly after that the 7 and 10 year old will return and then I'll go get the 13 yr old only to return home to clean up for the Blue and Gold scout banquet tonight.
My mind feels like the marbles inside are just rolling around.

School Wars
The school system seems to have it in for my sweet innocent 7 year old. I'd like to see his file as it is right now. I swear the idiot he had in kindergarden black balled him.

Hitler took over the world!
I must have seen 30 of these New VW Beetles on the way back from the school today. They are everywhere! Of course, this could be "red car" syndrome since the kids play the "Slug bug" game everytime we are in the car. They've started showing a lessor interest in the game and for that my bicep is thankful.
Let's talk about Breasts!
The entire Janet Jackson Superbowl stunt has been blown way out of portion. As my wife points out so well, the streaker showed more indecency and got laughter while Janet Jackson showed us the equivalent of a Victoria's Secret commercial and received ridicule!
The entire problem is that the United States is dominated by a bunch of prudes who make sex taboo. By making it taboo, we turn sex into the mystical thing that curious teenages just have to find out about. I bet that if it was "just sex" we'd have more people being less experimental. Or in the worse case, being safer about things.
I remember being a teenage when the first bra commercial came out. Let me tell you, as a teenager that was perusing every medical journal he could find, was amazed that National Geographic was allowed in schools, and knew where Dad's and his friend's dad's collections of dirty magazines were kept, this bra commercial was gold! I spent hours trying to capture it on video tape. Yes, this was long before you could go on the Internet and just download it. We also couldn't print pictures and taking the television into the bathroom was absolutely out of the question because it took 2 grown men to move a decent sized one. Allow me re-emphasize for the younger generation that hasn't seen our media change so drastically over the past couple of decades that in my lifetime I can remember the debate about whether to allow bra commercials to be shown on television. In the early 80s (I think) the first commercial ran that tastefully showed a woman without a shirt. It caused an uproar! Here's a woman in a bra on television. Well, there weren't shows doing that and to most people this was like bringing a strip show into your living room. Now, we see Victoria Secrets and Haynes commercials all the time. They are still fun to watch but the astonishment is gone. Even Kmart had a guy dancing in his boxers.
Unfortunately, people seem to have a problem distinguishing tasteful nudity from raunchy pornography. I think our society tends to lump them into the same category. Janet Jackson did tasteful nudity (granted, it may have been inappropriate for the viewing audience but that's not what this discussion is about) including it strategically placed in an artistic presentation with the timing of the nudity coinciding with the appropriate lyrics. What we see every day in the inboxes of our email is pornography.
What gets my goat the most is that she was primarily covered up.
This article "Jackson May Back Out of Grammy Awards" notes "The fiasco also affected NBC, which decided to remove a glimpse of an elderly patient's breast in Thursday's episode of "ER."" which is a shame because obviously there are people in our society that see "it's just a breast".

This Morning
* Woke at 3am and enough energy as to start my day. Had I bothered to get out of bed I could have had some productive moments.
* Woke again with the alarm at 5:45 and 6. Got out of bed at 6:05 and got the kids up.
Feeling down today like my muscles aren't really there. Its also cold. I didn't seek out the coal pile yesterday and the fire died last night. Now its raining outside and I left the axe out thinking we didn't have rain in the forecast.
Goals Today: 3rd verse, same as the 1st Let's just try to make yesterday's goals happen and add "no arguing" to the list.

Half full or half empty? What's it gonna be?
My wife and I feel we've begun to relate well to new found online friends in Australia. From our readings of their blogs we are two very similar families. I received an email from them tonight with an excerpt from Chicken Soup for the Soul - a good reminder to appreciate people for what they do and not focus on what they do not do (or do "wrong"). Ironically I'm between books so the connection between Autstralia and the need to refocus my outlook on life has inspired me to re-read what I feel is a great book, Mutant Message Down Under by Marlo Morgan. I understand that this book caused quite a stir amongst some Aboriginal people; for that, I do not understand the politics. I can however vouch for the spiritually uplifting feeling I get from reading the story. This book, as with most of my reading, was suggested to me. This time, instead of a friend, a total stranger in an airport singled this book out for me. On more than one occasion, airports have provided great reading references to me from other travellers.
6-10pm
* I'm exhausted from the stress of the afternoon. Top that with failing to achieve any 1 of the 4 goals I set out to do today.
* I cooked grilled cheese and soup for the family tonight and kept out of everyone's path as to not cause any more trouble.
* Wife and I watched an exceptional Smallville and we are guessing Adam Knight to be either Batman (the Knight being a reference to The Dark Knight) or a vampire (as Jordon said that he thought he had died once..making Knight a reference to a creature of the Night). Ice is thawing for us.
* Spent the past hour dorking around on the computer.

How to Make Permalinks Work
Earlier I wrote Trying to figure out how to make perma links work as a stream of conscious/troubleshooting note taking gibberish. Clear instructions follow:
The Blogger Knowledge Base notes "<a name="<$BlogItemNumber$>"> </a> should go somewhere in your post body. If you include it in the itemtitles section, your post will only get numbered if you specify a title.)"
The blogger template has this code:
however, if your blogger post does not include a title, the anchor for the permalink will not get created. To fix this, change:
to
With that in place using the "#postnumber" in the url will take you to a specific post. You can confirm this by "view source" and searching for "<a name" You should have several that appear as <a name="postnumber"> without the "#" mark.
To get the permalink url, right click on the date in the "posted by" and "copy shortcut".
What's a "perma link"? These are urls that can be used to direct someone to a specific posting in a blog rather than just sending them to a top of a page. Each post has a "posted by" byline and in that there is a link which shows something like "http://cursed-juggler.blogspot.com/2004_02_01_cursed-juggler_archive.html#107594955252071847" which would be the link to this post. As an example, here's a link to my post about Eatting Spongebob Squarepants http://cursed-juggler.blogspot.com/2004_02_01_cursed-juggler_archive.html#107589435617551149
Hope this helps someone.

* wife scolded me in front of the kids. I in turn scolded her in front of the kids. Decided that I needed some time alone to cool down and that got me in further hot water. Turned a great day into a bad one.
Lunch
Whew! Had lunch then fell asleep hard. So hard I didn't hear the phone ring but apparently it did.
Baby has awakened from her nap and is playing under her hand quilted blank (my grandmother did that for her) like it is a tent. Cute!
Going to see if I can brew another pot of coffee before she wants out.

Trying to figure out why anchors are not working
Added Title and URL options in Settings->formating of blogger. What do these do?
Ah! Got it! For some reason the blogger template has this code:
<BlogItemTitle><h2><$BlogItemTitle$><a name="<$BlogItemNumber$>"> </a></h2></BlogItemTitle>
which makes sense but in your Settings->Formatting if Titles is set to "No" in theory this means that your anchors won't show up which means your "perma links" won't work.
What's a "perma link"? I tried turning on Titles but it didn't seem to change anything. Perhaps I had a browser cache problem or I had not republished the template or something. However, the following change DEFINITELY works:
<a name="<$BlogItemNumber$>"> </a><BlogItemTitle><h2><$BlogItemTitle$></h2></BlogItemTitle>

Fed myself and the baby some eggos and refueled the fire. I realized I may have been having trouble with the fire last night 1) due to the way I've got the wood stacked 2) It's time to clean the ashes out and 3) the wood I'm using isn't really that seasoned and our hotest fires have been when I mixed the very seasoned wood with this more recent wood.
* 13 yr old dropped off at school. He's in a good mood but going to town with the lip sucking noises. I tried asking him questions to the whole trip to school just to see if I could get him to stop by making him talk but he slips the sucking noises in between words and sentences.

Sounds like the baby is up. I guess she's helping me take the 13 yr old to school. Let's let the wife have a little extra rest.
Today's goals:
- Brochure for other Developers
- 7.5 minutes of cleaning
- Php total wrapup
- Contact more people on the hidden job network
There.. Brief. Achieveable. We can set other goals upon completing those.
* Have returned from dropping the kids at school. The 13 yr old is up and going. Seems cheery. Yesterday he had totally reverted to institutional behavior.
Wow! There's a sharp bite in the air today.
Conversations with the 7 year old boy frequently have me concerned about his intelligence...then I remind myself "he's 7!" Our face I think is fairly intelligent. The 13 yr old reads at a college level, has an extensive vocabulary, and could con most adults; the 10 yr old has an IQ off the charts but won't apply herself; the 7 yr old is the top reader and challenges one other person in his class for the top speller; the 20 mth old was doing 3 year old developmental milestones at 1.5yrs; the wife has 2 degrees and is very intelligent; and I was always in gifted and talented programs until college where I successfully drank away my intelligence and left myself with a swiss cheese brain.
Today's 7 year old conversation:
Dad- Have you had breakfast?
7 yr old- Yes.
Dad- What did you eat?
7 yr old- Oh. That's right. I haven't had breakfast.
It's tough to be seven!

Time to help the kids and brew some coffee. Let's make this a great day!
http://www.x-entertainment.com/ (clean site despite the name. Some cursing in the articles.) brings up Eatting Spongebob Square Pants This is mostly funny to me because in December the baby pointed at a picture of Spongebob and clearly said "Spongebob" but in that cute baby talk way where the words sound musical like they are coming out of a fairies mouth. Stunned me so that I had her repeat herself 3 more times.
A New Day!
Let's start the day off with a PayPal donation link:
This Morning
Woke a couple of times in the night but never enough to put wood on the fire.
Got up at 6am and got dressed. The fire still had some wood in it and strong coals so I refueled it after getting the kids up.
I feel strongly like I've overlooked something I should be doing.
Last Night
Had a terrible time getting the fire to light. Sometimes I'm good. Sometimes I'm really bad. Eventually I got it going strong.
At 12:30 I finally decided to try to get some sleep

Interesting. Found Orkut It's a social network, in affiliation with Google, like LinkedIn, sixdegrees, Friendster and so forth; however, you can only get in if you know someone that is already a member. That sounds fun! I might just have to write one like that.
10:15-11 - Rushed to load the wife, 20 mth old and myself in the car. Drove to the elementary school and checked out the 10 yr old. Drove to the middle school and checked out the 13 yr old. 13 yr old started asked what he and his therapist could do today and got upset when he was reminded that it was a shared appointment with his sister and her therapist. Yes, we are all nuts. Her therapy sessions are mainly to help her cope with her brother who has asperger's syndrome. His therapy of course is to help him cope with the real world. Today they were trying to learn to cope with each other.
11:00-12:00 First the wife and I meet with the doctors (one gets floored when we mention that the 13 yr old is back in school) and then the kids. The 13 yr old became so worked up about this meeting that when we stepped back out into the waiting room he was unscrewing a lightbulb in a lit lamp and throwing books hard against the ceiling. He 3 times interupted us to explain that we were taking to long. The end result was that he got targeted in the meeting and came out feeling picked upon.
Here's where things turn ugly. We were having a pretty jolly day. Now the kids are angry at each other, the toddler is needing a nap and the wife and I are edgy because of the tension. I get in the car. The 10 yr old gets in the car then the wife asks the 13 yr old to put the 20 mth old in the car seat and while he is putting her into the car he wacks her head on the ceiling. The 10 yr old and I are flabbergasted and start trying to explain that the wife needs to tend to her...anyhow, long and short we have a miscommunication and everyone gets upset with everyone else. I turn silent and distant and it takes until almost 3pm for the ice to thaw. Internally I'm thinking this is all wrong and that we should make ammends but the wife wasn't hearing the words that the 10 yr old and I were saying and when I tried to explain this she interupted me and went off on a tangent and that sent me further into silence. Again, unnecessary anger. We are better now (in part to someone else giving us a common ground to be aggitated about) and that's what matters.
We take the kids to Chick Filet and then return the fast eater, the 13 yr old, to school. Then the slower eater gets returned to school. Then the wife, the sleeping baby and I travel to Party City for Valentine's day school supplies; then its off to Walmart where we talk while the baby sleeps in our arms and the healing begins. After Walmart we check on our Geocache, The West Knoxville Travel Bug Hotel and find the last cacher (a local) took 5 travel bugs emptying the cache and causing a traveler from out of state to find an empty container. That's just wrong. Worse yet they got moved to a member's only cache that already had 6 bugs in it. We have probably a half dozen paying members in the area. I clean up some garbage and we move on.
The next stop is a public park down a long winding road that is in a very weathly neighborhood where the neighborhood has obviously been designed to encourage this public property to be used as a "private" park. I'll add that to my political agenda but way towards the bottom. This area would not make a good cache unless approached by boat...hmm.
We return home, play on the computers, I get upset with the 7 yr old because he got in trouble for the 6th day in a row at school but that's not why I got upset. He apparently kissed a boy on the school bus. The story is the boy was trying to do it to him first and the 7 yr old kissed him on the ear. This would be funny in a way if it wasn't for the fact that the 7 yr old has already been threatened with suspension for having slapped a girl on the bottom--typical 7 yr old playing but we were told that "school board policy does not permit 'boys to be boys' anymore". The thing that irked me was the 7 yr old was so scared of getting in trouble that he stared blankly at me then said "I don't know if I kissed him" How could one not know? This dad stuff isn't easy. It definitely has its rewards but on days you mess up you really feel horrible.
The evening ended with happy children and that is how they should always go to bed...happy!
We will have a much better tomorrow!

Special thanks to Tim! I forgot to link the blogs I created for my brother and sister. Link available in the original post here and in the sidebar. Thanks again!
My brother is a chiropractor and has a wonderful sense of humor. His blog should be a fun read as soon as he gets the hang of it.
My sister is 17 years younger than I am and obsessed with playing tuba in the band but should be a good read for remembering those high school years.

Lot's of catching up. What day! Let's start with the current state of affairs:
-13 yr old in bed reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
-10 yr old in bed reading It's Like This, Cat
-7 yr old in bed reading Hank the Cowdog
-20 mth old being forced to stay awake until 8:30 despite almost falling asleep on her feet but mesmerized by the cartoon Catdog

Time to check the 10 yr old and 13 yr old out of school for their joint therapy session. I wish I could be a fly on the wall for this one!
* Dropped the 13 yr old at school. The teacher I despise was there to greet him. Coincidence? Forgot to buy milk on the way home.
Things on my mind this morning:
-Insurance
-Finding work
-Travel Bug Hotel
-Asperger Support Group
-Red Cross Training tapes (big guilt. We borrowed them before Christmas and the lady says "Please try to do these this week or it won't happen.")

A New Day!

This Morning
* Awoke at midnight and noted that the fire was still strong but that I should probably put wood on it since the wood was wet and we wanted to keep it going. Didn't do it.
* Awoke at 2 am and tried to recover the fire for 30 minutes. It seemed to be going and at 2:30 I was wide awake and considering a bath. Instead I returned to bed. The fire died.
* Awoke without an alarm clock at 6:19 in a panic but not the usual spring from bed cursing type of panic. I maintained myself much better than I normally do.
* Got the 7 yr old and 10 yr old moving and I went back to bed for 10 minutes but started feeling guilty for not being upstairs so I got dress and went up stairs to lie on the couch while they fed themselves and prepared for school.
* Grandmother called to say she was almost here with the costume pants for the 7 yr old; she pulled in as we were trying to leave but then could not find the pants and feared she had dropped them on the driveway at her house. She pulled up to let us out and as I pulled forward it sounded like we had a flat tire; turns out it was just a rock in the tread. The carpooler wasn't quite ready and I dropped the kids at the carpool lobby which irritated the 10 yr old. Grandmother calls and says she is at the school and found the pants under a fedex box and is dropping them at the office. I ask her to hold them and in leau of getting milk I pickup the pants since the rest of the costume pieces are at the house.
* I return home and the 13 yr old is in "give me attention" mode and ends up getting me worked up a little but not badly.
* Time to take the 13 yr old to school.
Last Night
Was totally unfocused and useless last night. Read blogs until my rear was sore then went to bed 9:30ish and watched tv until I passed out.

* Got my brother launched in this world of self publishing. I must break away from the computer for a bit.
Feeling a little blown-away and overwhelmed right now. Like the walls are closing in.

* Picked up 13 yr old and mentioned that the bus people had not contacted us yet and the teacher said she'd look into it. Apparently he had a good day and they are trying to "slowly" get him into classes. Sounds to me like they are doing academics within the special setting and not mainstreaming into regular classes.
* Dropped 13 yr old at home and pickedup 7 yr old from friend's house to talk with his teacher. Had an opportunity to be more social with his friend's dad than I have in the past and that was a good feeling.
* Came back and chopped some wood and the neighbor across the creek was burning rubbish hollered at me and we exchanged niceties something that hasn't happened in the 6.5 years I've been here and that made me feel good.
* Going to settle in for some programming now.

What I've done to that poor tree is sinful! The neighbor had a beautiful oak tree felled by a tornado. The power company brought it to the ground in huge chunks and I traded for it. Gave some electrical work in exchange for the tree. However, I asked that the power company cut it into manageable sized pieces so I could cord it and burn it in the wood stove. As I'm cutting this Oak up (some pieces nearly 4.5 feet in diameter) I'm realizing that it should have been boarded and planked. This would cuts so cleanly I could be making shingles with it! The grain is so fine it would make an elegant paneling some expensive board room. I, or the home owner, could have made a fortune keeping it in one chunk and having a crane take it to some lumber company.
Call it "live and learn." Oh the other hand, I am getting tremendous pleasure out of cutting it and warming my house. The fire burns long and hot and produces a wonderful scent.

* stuck. Have to leave the house shortly to go to a meeting so I don't want to get into anything but I feel like I need to be doing something. Think I'll chop wood.

* Got the kids up, had breakfast and tested the 7 yr old on his spelling. He was so tired that he was making errors like "time lineline" and "Sams's" If he concentrates, he should test out of spelling this week with the pre-test. 7 and 10 yr old were jolly. I gave the 13 yr old his medicine half an hour late. The 10 yr old turned me down for the "he and me" dance this coming Saturday. I asked that she see how many people in her class are going and told her "we don't have to dance. We can go and just have fun." She's afraid I'll embarass her and she is too self-conscious to dance. Dancing could be so healthy for her.
* Drove the kids to school. Our carpooler was slow today we almost didn't make it on time.

* Some work accomplished. Time to get the kids up for school.
* One hour before the kids rise. My neck aches in the area where you'd take a pulse. I've got another load of laundry in, added wood to the fire, took some trash to the street and am settling in to program. On good news, the mud stains appear to have mostly come out. I think one more treatment would have removed them completely but I'll try that after the next wear.
* Bathed, flossed teeth even! Skipped my stretching exercises but am feeling pretty good. Time to brew some coffee and make with the tapping on the keyboard to get the php thing wiped out.
A New Day!

This Morning
* Time to start the day. There's no point to being in bed anyway. Started 30 minutes ago with a few minutes of Scarface. Then restarted the fire. Then decided to quit procrastinating on a pair of pants that got mudstained a year or more ago. Not even sure they fit. I scrubbed and bleached and did my best. Now I'm moving laundry to the dryer and will start a load to see if I got the stains out.
* Let's make this a productive day despite all the adversity.

My cat is really bothered that I'm working on the computer. I think I'll go elsewhere for awhile.

The White Trash Wars Chapter 1
So, I don't live as I was raised. And my Irish temper shows through too much and perhaps my Southern upbringing allows a little too much redneck to rear its head. The debts I created for myself in college and in my attempt at running my first business keep me trapped in a lower middle class state. My driveway looks like a scene from "Sanford and Son" and I live on unkempt parcel of land that is nearly an acre. The house is being remodelled as quickly as my income and time will allow (which isn't that fast--ain't I should say). The gutters have been removed on the back, one downspout just barely hangs on the side of the house, a hole is covered with torn plastic where an airconditioner unit used to be. The siding is faded and the shutters are painted green clashing with the grayish color of the vinyl siding.
So, I have renters next door. All the neighbors would like to see that house sold to a family and renters be gone. When they moved in one of their friends came speeding through the cove and I confronted him and the "neighbor" got down right unneighborly with me. I've just spoken to his mother about honking the horn when she pulls up to pick him up for work. I didn't address her speeding yet; however, I expect there to be repercussions. I sort of fear underhanded attacks like the time they just spread garbage on our driveway (apparently the raccoons--yes, we have possum too--had torn up our garbage and got it on their yard. I was in LA so I couldn't confront them). I suspect he'll be wanting to chat with me. That'll be chapter 2.
Enjoy my wife's perspective on it.
Lies My Teachers Told Me by J.D. Cassidy For someone that leans a bit more left than right, this is an article that is decently thought provoking. Reads like this are important to keep us balanced (don't confuse that with me agreeing with Cassidy) and steering more toward the middle of the road instead of getting too "left" or too "right". This comes from Politically Right. For those that know him, note the extreme similarities between Cassidy and my brother-in-law.

* Got a call today from someone I haven't talked to in 3 years. Good call. Of course, he needed something :)
* My chest feels hollow right now. Like my heart has stopped or is missing.
* Glasses fixed. The 13 yr old found some Dave N Buster screw drivers. Now I'm slipping into abvilance about what to do with today. I have to choose between cleaning, programming, wood splitting and automotive repair.
* Talking to the 13 yr old feels like such a waste of time sometimes. It's like trying to shout in a vaccuum. No matter how much effort you put into it you words just aren't heard.

I'm getting really angry with myself! I can't stop myself from talking angerily to the 13 yr old.
HAHA! Someone just showed me Booble the adult search engine. The opening page is clean at this viewing. Nothing offensive except perhaps the logo. I experienced no popups.
* I feel like my day is ruined. The 13 yr old broke his glasses because he was "fiddling." I can't find my jeweler's screwdrivers which are in a large red package and its beginning to tick me off. Before I even started looking for the screw drivers, the 13 yr old came out with wire wanting to fix them himself so I naturally yelled at him and upset him, the baby and myself.
* I guess my task today is going to be to clean all day long. It would be a worthwhile investment in time. It would make everyone saner around here.

* Proceeded to grouse at the 13 yr old for snacking on cheese while watching his movies. I was really more upset that he just left trash anywhere. The tightwad in me is upset that he chooses expense bad calories when we have less expensive better calorie snacks like rice cakes. I think I'll show him the better snacks.
* Refueling the fire now
Last Night
* Decided to set the ambiance in the room with a couple of candles
* Had a beer and slept like a rock
